These photos belonged to Alexander Hugh DOUGAL . RHS 111a Junior (1922)
with names of pupils he has written in. He has put a ? where his name
should be not sure why. He is first in line beginning of back row (first
in picture). His daughter Valerie
would like to hear from you if you recognise
anyone the photo. You can reply to her directly, or via the Visitors
Book , or through our Eddie
Tait (RHSCL hon. secretary).
Alexander Hugh Dougal (father) first at beginning of middle row.
After my father died I was given his medals and badges which amongst them
was a material badge. I thought it was from his service in the Merchant
Navy as my father was deceased could not ask him. Enquired at several Seaman
and Merchant Navy Clubs or Associations, but to no avail, no one seemed to
know what the badge represented, so it lay packed away for years.
Just recently I was taking a trip down memory lane and looking at my
father's things came across the badge again, so got a bright idea to go onto
the Internet to web site Google.com where I typed in the Latin inscription
which is across the top of the badge and up came several web pages and a
black and white picture of yes guess what the badge I had searched for the
meaning for years. So it was his Royal High School Badge (pocket I think).
So was thrilled to find at long last the riddle of what was the meaning of
the badge.
Which spurred me on the find your site and web pages.

That predates anyone I know other than Freddie Thomas who unfortunately died last month. I will have a dig about. The school will have pictures of rugby teams but not I suspect football ones. - Robin Boog Edinburgh RHS FP Club
Sadly one of our oldest members, Dan Logan who left the school in 1926, died recently, but we do have 3 others from 1922, 1926 and 1929. Unfortunately none of these gentlemen are contactable by e-mail. - Will Dunnett Webmaster RHSCL.
