Amongst these, you will find notes, a photograph and a signed program from a comedy play “Just the Job”, performed by the Royal High School Dramtic Society at the “Little Theatre” in the Pleasance in 1950. The Play was produced by Charles McAra, who I believe taught English at the school in the 1960s.<\/p>\n
Legendary head of English, Hector McIver who was a driving force in the dramatic society, produced the 1948 play “the Authors of Mischief”, written by David Platt and Karl Miller. Karl Miller who went on to a very distinguished career in the world of literature. There is an image of the “Authors’ note on the play” credited to the authors. The play was based on the account of the shooting of a Baillie by a Royal High pupil during a riot at the school. The rector at the time the play was set was Hercules Rollock who is listed as rector 1584.<\/p>\n
