Dear friends, 1st of December 2025
You will remember that about this time last year I wrote to you about the launch of the Royal High School Foundation. The Foundation raises funds to ensure that the school continues to evolve and flourish in its mission to provide unparalleled educational opportunities for all, by creating additional opportunities, providing equipment, and giving other support that would not otherwise be available to pupils.
I am delighted to report that over the last year RHS London Club members and friends have responded most handsomely and generously to our request to support the new Foundation, with donations including partial matching from London Club funds totalling some £13,000 to date. So far, your donations have helped to pay for some 20 projects, clubs and activities, a representative sample is:
- Chess Club – a runaway success with, for example, the whole assembly hall being taken over for a Chess Week in the autumn. The Foundation funded the prizes.
- Weight Lifting – procuring kit for this extracurricular club
- Microphones – purchased for concerts in the main hall
- Zoo Group – supports pupils with medical or other issues with a “softer” reintroduction to school life.
- Modern Languages café – financial support
- Craft Design and Technology – equipment purchases
- Fitting out a courtyard at the school – a team of pupils will be gardening, repurposing benches and doing building work
- Dance – cost of floor mats and uniforms
Now the Foundation is fully active, I would ask you to consider if you could support the school on an ongoing basis, by setting up a standing order to the Foundation. Regular income, no matter what the size of your contribution, will enable sustainable and long-term support to the school’s pupils. That said, if you can’t commit to an ongoing level of support, one-off donations remain most welcome!
