The President of the RHS Club in London
The club is pleased to announce that Richard Steedman has officially taken over as President of the RHS Club in London, succeeding Paul Fleming (RHS 2003) who has held the office since 2018.
Richard attended the RHS at Barnton from 1975-1981 and read Computer Science and Electronics at Edinburgh University, graduating in 1985. Since then he has worked as a designer in the silicon microchip industry for firms in the UK and Canada. He enjoys choral singing and is a member of a number of Winchester-based choirs and also the BBC Symphony Chorus in London. He is a Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Clockmakers.
Richard has polished the President’s Badge of Office and taken the photographs displayed here.
The badge is made of sterling silver (which is what most worn silver is made of) and hallmarked Birmingham 1912. The maker’s mark is “JB&S” which could be James Ballantyne & Son, Virginia St, Glasgow.
The reverse side has the City coat of arms and an inscription on the suspension.
