London Club members, their guests and a party of 5 from the school in Edinburgh assembled for the Annual Dinner on Friday the 13th of March 2026 at the Davys at St James wine bar in Pall Mall.
Our President, Richard Steedman, who is also a member of the Worshipful Company of Clockmakers, made a prompt start and 21 attendees sat down to enjoy an excellent dinner: soup of the day, pan-roasted cod and the pear crumble with coconut ice cream were popular choices, washed down with excellent house wines.
After dinner, School Captain Ythan Hunter got the speeches underway with some stirring words about his time at the school – Ythan and his vice-captains Elizabeth Auld and Melissa Khosravi-Oskouee will be leaving through the Memorial Doors in just three weeks’ time. Committee member Eric Steedman reported on the London Club’s fundraising activities, highlighting a recent ‘Maths Camp’ at the school which was financed by the Worshipful Company of Actuaries. Head Teacher Pauline Walker delivered an upbeat report on the work of the school, and we were all impressed by her passion to ensure that every pupil is encouraged to succeed whatever their background might be.
After a rousing rendition of Vivas Schola Regia Richard Steedman brought proceedings to a timely end and we all made our way home via the busy Friday night underground trains.
