22 attendees comprising Royal High School Club in London members, their guests and a party of 5 from the school in Edinburgh assembled for the Annual Dinner on Friday the 14th of March 2025 at the Davy’s at St James wine bar in Pall Mall. It was a cold day and we warmed up with a welcoming drink while Club President Richard Steedman brought proceedings to order. The Davys kitchen excelled and we enjoyed three hearty courses with ham hock terrine, Surrey Hills sirloin steak and a tasty cheeseboard proving popular choices, all washed down with excellent House wines. A highlight of the evening was Richard Steedman’s presentation of a cheque for £900 made out to The Royal High School Foundation to the School Captain Hannah McLaughlin. The London Club committee had matched the first £900 of individual club members’ donations with a donation from Club funds. Following the presentation we heard speeches from Hannah McLaughlin, Acting Head Teacher Steven Raeburn and the President of the RHS Club Russell Ogg. After a rousing rendition of Vivas Schola Regia Richard Steedman brought proceedings to and end and we all made our way home via the busy London Underground system.
